Disco Dancer

The career has had its moments. Disco Dancer broke through at Down Royal in March 2024, and that Irish track has clearly suited — the most recent win also came there, in January 2025. But that victory is now 16 months in the past, and the last six races have produced nothing better than a fourth place, with a couple of eighths mixed in. A run just yesterday means the horse is very much active and still being tested, but the form lines are not pointing upward right now.

One slightly puzzling thread runs through the record: Jack Kennedy, one of the most respected riders in Ireland, has partnered Disco Dancer seven times without a single win to show for it. That is not necessarily a knock on either horse or jockey — the racing game rarely works that neatly — but seven attempts and zero wins is a combination that has not yet clicked.

Disco Dancer is trained by Gordon Elliott at his yard in Longwood, County Meath, one of the most powerful operations in Irish racing. Elliott's team has fired out 210 winners already this season, so the sheer weight of horses passing through that yard is enormous. For a horse sitting on a 3-from-27 record, being housed in one of the country's leading yards at least means the support and expertise is there if a purple patch is coming.

At this stage of the career, Disco Dancer looks like a horse that does its job reliably, races without embarrassment, and occasionally finds a race that suits. The next win may come — Down Royal already has a special place in this horse's story — but it will need something to change in a run of form that has now gone six races without a victory.
