Diligent Henry

Wolverhampton is clearly his home. His first win there came on 7 April 2025, and his most recent on 6 October 2025 — though that was eight months ago now, and his last six runs have all come up short, with finishes of 4th, 10th, 10th, 5th, 11th, and 5th. The 4th place is the most recent, which is at least a sign of life, but the middle stretch of that sequence — two 10th-place finishes — suggests there have been some tough days. He races mostly at Class 6, the entry-level tier of British racing, and has won 2 of his 18 races at that level, or just over 1 in every 9.

His regular partner in the saddle is Lewis Edmunds, who has ridden him in 11 races and won once — a win rate of around 1 in every 11 rides together. That's not a sparkling partnership on the numbers, but continuity between horse and jockey does matter, and Edmunds clearly knows this horse well. The yard behind him belongs to Jessica Macey, trained out of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, and it has been a decent season for the team — 13 winners sent out so far, which shows the operation knows how to get a horse ready to win.

Diligent Henry raced just yesterday, so he is right in the thick of a busy campaign. Whether he can find his way back to Wolverhampton in good enough shape to add a third win there is the question worth watching. He has shown he can do it — twice — and at this level, on the right day at the right track, that matters more than the overall record suggests.
