Diamond Secret

Looking at recent form, Diamond Secret hasn't quite managed to land a blow in the last six races. Most recently it came fifth, but a week or so before that it was sixth, and before that seventh. There have been two instances where the horse has missed the placings entirely. These aren't disastrous runs by any means — they read like the record of a horse plugging away without quite having the quality to win — but the pattern suggests it may need to find another gear or get the right setup to trouble the judge.

Trainer Philip Fenton, based at Carrick-On-Suir in County Tipperary, has been sending winners out this season (the yard has seven to its name so far), so there's clearly some form in the stable. Whether Diamond Secret will be the one to break through is an open question, but at five years old it has time on its side, and the willingness to run regularly is often a good sign. For now, it remains a horse in search of its moment.
