The big moment came on 11 September 2025, when Devil's Advocate won a Class 2 race at Doncaster — one of the better races you can win short of the very top tier in Britain. That result represented a genuine step up from its first career win at Chelmsford in October 2024, and it showed the horse can handle a proper test. William Buick, one of the most respected jockeys in the country, has been in the saddle for five of its races, winning once together — a 20%, or 1 in 5, partnership that broadly mirrors the horse's overall record.

The honest part of the picture is this: Devil's Advocate has tried Class 1, the highest level, five times and has not won once. Those races represent the ceiling it has not yet broken through. Its recent form reads 7-4-2-7-1-4 (most recent first), which tells a familiar story of a horse that fires on certain days and goes quiet on others. The two sevenths sandwiching a win are a reminder that consistency is still a work in progress. It raced just one day ago, so it is very much in the middle of its season, and with the right conditions and the right distance, another big afternoon at somewhere like Doncaster is not out of the question.
