Desiderata

The horse came to life just over a year ago, picking up its maiden win at Wolverhampton on 4 January 2025, and has since added two more victories. Wolverhampton, in fact, has become something of a fortress: Desiderata has won twice from 14 races there, which makes it one of the few courses where this horse consistently competes at its best. More recently, it won at Nottingham in mid-April 2026 and has shown real form in its last six races, winning twice and finishing in the top three on three other occasions. That kind of consistency suggests a horse that, while not a class act, has found a level where it belongs and a pattern of running that suits it.

Thomas Faulkner's yard at Devauden in Monmouths has sent out 16 winners this season, and Desiderata continues to be a small but genuine part of that tally. With Robert Havlin in the saddle for most of its races — they share a 1 win from 7 record together — the horse was last seen just a day ago and remains an active runner. At six years old, Desiderata is unlikely to develop into anything spectacular, but it has proven itself a reliable campaigner at the right level and the right trip. For a horse competing mostly at Class 6, winning 3 of 26 races means it has paid its way and continues to give its the yard reasons to keep running it.
