His first career win came there on 10 May 2022, and the course has clearly suited him ever since. Trainer Patrick Chamings, based at Baughurst in Hampshire, has noted that Darvel responds better on good, firm ground — he was notably disappointing on the all-weather surfaces — and Chepstow's turf track may explain why he thrives there.
