The last six races make for difficult reading. A fifth-place finish was the highlight, followed by runs of eleventh, fourteenth, seventh, third, and then a pulled-up or unseated result at the head of that sequence — a slide in form that tells you things haven't been going to plan lately. Finishing fourteenth in a field suggests days where Dahab has simply been outclassed, and that kind of consistency at the wrong end of the results sheet raises questions about whether the right races are being found for it.

Jockey J M Sheridan has had the ride nine times out of the fifteen, which shows a real commitment to the partnership — but those nine attempts together have also produced zero wins, making it a long-running search for a breakthrough. That said, sticking with the same jockey suggests the team believes in the combination and is backing their judgment rather than chopping and changing in frustration.

Trainer D Broad operates out of Summerhill in County Meath, a part of Ireland with serious racing pedigree. The yard has sent out one winner so far this season, which is a modest return, and Dahab's record reflects the challenges of a stable still working to find its rhythm. None of this means a win is impossible — horses can and do break long droughts — but at fifteen races in and still waiting, Dahab needs something to change, whether that is a drop into easier company, a different track, or simply a day when everything clicks. For now, it remains one of racing's persistent nearly-horses, always in the conversation but never quite the answer.
