Daboya

The key to Daboya's racing style is distance. At two miles and beyond, the horse has won half of its races — two wins from four attempts — which is the kind of consistency that tells you something important about where its engine works best. Over shorter trips, Daboya is far less effective, so when the race is set up to suit its stamina, that is when to pay attention. Trainer R Donohoe clearly understands this, and the recent wins suggest the yard is running the horse at the right tracks and over the right distances. The last six races show a horse improving into a winning pattern: two second places alongside those three wins is the shape of a horse that belongs in the winners' enclosure more often than not.

Daboya made its first breakthrough at Dundalk in November 2024 and has since proved that was no flash in the pan. With the yard in good form this season — six winners already sent out — and Daboya actively racing right now, this is a horse worth keeping tabs on when it lines up at distance races over the next few weeks. At five years old, it is in the prime of its life.
