Richard Spencer's Newmarket operation has been in decent shape this season with 30 winners sent out, so the trainer clearly knows how to get horses ready. The challenge now is working out what Cuff It needs to get back to winning ways. The Windsor track clearly suits it — a win there is not nothing — but there is unfinished business across the other four races it has run. At three years old, Cuff It still has time to develop and find its level, but the erratic recent form means the next few races will be telling. The question is whether that June win was a sign of a horse with real ability, or simply a good day that has yet to be repeated.
