Trained by Toby Bulgin out of Lambourn in Berkshire, Crystal Jet is part of a yard that has sent out three winners this season. Lambourn is one of British racing's great training villages, home to dozens of stables and horses of every level, so being based there means Crystal Jet is working in serious company every morning. Bulgin's three winners this season suggests a small but functioning operation that knows how to get a horse ready to perform.
The recent form — a third, a third, a fourth, and then that latest eighth — is a slight concern. Improvement through the middle of that sequence suggested a horse finding its feet and climbing toward a first win, but the most recent run, just a day ago, was a step back. It's early days for a four-year-old, and plenty of horses take time to mature and find their conditions, but Crystal Jet will need to recapture that placed form quickly to make good on the promise those two third-place finishes hinted at.
