The recent form reads 3-5-6 going back through the season, which means the trend is actually moving in the right direction. The horse hasn't won yet, and a win rate of zero from three races is obviously not what anyone wants to see, but three runs is an extremely small sample. Plenty of horses take time to find their feet, and a third-place finish last time out is at least a step toward the front of the field.

What gives the profile a little more optimism is the yard behind the horse. Trainer Ross O'Sullivan, based in Kilcullen, County Kildare, has sent out 35 winners already this season — that's a busy, functioning operation that clearly knows how to get horses ready to run. When a stable of that size and productivity keeps a horse in training and keeps running it, it usually means they see something worth developing. Cracking Cloud may still be learning the job, and with a trainer who has demonstrated this season that he can produce winners, there's reason to watch what happens next. The horse raced just yesterday, so whatever comes next is not far away.
