At Class 4 — the mid-to-lower tier of British racing — Cosmic Blizzard has had four chances and come up empty every time. These are not the toughest fields in the sport. Winning here is genuinely achievable, which makes the blank record all the more puzzling.

Cosmic Blizzard is not without interest as a subject, precisely because horses like this are the backbone of the sport — running week after week, keeping yards ticking over, giving owners hope. But hope, as the record shows, has its limits. At seven years old, with 21 races behind and no wins to show, the window for a breakthrough is narrowing. Whether that first win ever comes will say as much about persistence as it does about talent.
