His record of 6 wins and 18 places from those 43 races — winning roughly 1 in every 7 races overall — tells the story of a horse who competes honestly without ever threatening to dominate. Almost all of his racing life has been spent at Class 6, the entry-level tier of British racing, where he has won 5 of his 34 races at that grade. That is not a criticism — it simply means this is his level, and within it he has been a consistent, reliable performer. The places keep coming even when the wins don't, which is more than can be said for plenty of horses.

Lingfield Park is his spiritual home. His first career win came there in January 2022, and his most recent win — back in February 2025, now 16 months ago — came there too. When his trainer first got hold of him in 2021, he deliberately held back from rushing the horse into action, and was rewarded when Coolagh Magic won first time out at Lingfield. That kind of patient handling clearly suited him. Jockey Tony Hamilton, speaking after a sharp win at Southwell, described a horse that "jumped out well" and found another gear when asked — a rider's way of saying the horse surprised even him with his finishing speed.

His most regular partner has been William Carson, who has ridden him in 27 of his 43 races — a genuine long-term partnership. The results, 2 wins from 27 races together (winning 1 in every 13 or so), are modest, but there is clearly a comfort in familiarity for a horse like this. The last six races have brought no wins, the most recent effort a finish outside the places, and his last victory sits 16 months back. At 10 years old and still racing, the wins may come less often now — but Coolagh Magic is the kind of horse that quietly earns your respect simply by turning up, race after race, and giving his honest best.
