What is worth noting is the yard behind the horse. Trainer Ralph Beckett, based in Kimpton, Hampshire, has sent out 109 winners already this season — that is the output of a seriously productive operation, and horses that come through his hands tend to be given every chance to find their level and improve. Being trained by Beckett is no small thing, and it suggests Concealed Passion will get the time and opportunity to show what it can do.
One run tells you almost nothing about a horse. Fourth place could mean it was outclassed, or it could mean it simply needed the experience. With Beckett pulling the strings, it would be no surprise to see this one return and tell a very different story.
