Committee Meeting

Trained by P J Rothwell out of Tinahely in County Wicklow, the horse is part of a yard that clearly knows how to produce winners — 35 of them this season alone. That makes Committee Meeting something of an outlier in the stable, a horse that keeps turning up without delivering the result the team is looking for. Rothwell's record suggests the problem is unlikely to be preparation; the horse has simply not found a way to win.

With a race just yesterday, Committee Meeting is very much still in the game, and a recent finishing position of eighth in one of its last six runs is about the most concrete piece of recent form available. It has not threatened the winner in any of those six races. At 7 years old, time is not exactly on its side, but horses have broken losing runs at this age before. Whether Committee Meeting eventually calls the meeting to order or remains forever in discussion is the question its trainer is still trying to answer.
