McGuinness clearly knows where this horse thrives, and Dundalk, with its all-weather surface and indoor straight, suits Comfort Line in a way that few other venues have managed to replicate.

Ground conditions matter too. On normal ground, Comfort Line has won 6 times from 39 races — that 15% win rate (roughly 1 in every 7 races) is comfortably the best of any surface in its career, and it reinforces the picture of a horse that performs at its best when conditions are straightforward, not testing. When things get wet or slow, the results tend to suffer.
