And near-misses are very much Collaborative's theme. Seven places from 18 races tells you this is a horse that consistently shows up and competes — it's just that the winning moments have been rare. Both victories came in quick succession at the start of 2025, first at Navan in January and then at Fairyhouse a few weeks later, which hinted at a horse finally clicking into gear. Since then, though, the six-race run without a win includes a sequence of 2-2-4-3-4-11 — plenty of minor placings, a couple of encouraging seconds, but the breakthrough hasn't come again.
Phillip Enright has been in the saddle for the majority of the career, riding Collaborative in 14 of those 18 races and claiming both wins — so that's a 14% win rate together, or 2 wins from every 14 rides. That's a meaningful partnership, and when the wins did come, it was Enright aboard for both of them. McKiernan's yard has sent out six winners this season, so the operation is clearly capable of getting horses ready to win. The question for Collaborative is simply when the next one arrives. Raced just yesterday and still very much in training, this is a horse firmly in the thick of its career, still placing regularly enough to suggest it belongs at its level — it just needs one to go its way.
