Coincidental Glory

The recent form is telling. In its last six outings the horse has finished 13th, then 4th, 9th, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th — a pattern of near-misses and modest efforts that shows it can be competitive but is not at the races most days. It raced just yesterday, so the yard are keeping it active and looking for the right opening. Adam Caffrey, its main rider, has never managed to get it into the winner's circle in eight attempts together, which might suggest a mismatch or simply that the horse has not run well when he has been aboard. Nine months have passed since that December win at Dundalk, which is a long drought for a horse with so few victories to its name. Trainer Adrian McGuinness runs a yard at Lusk that has been productive this season with 45 winners, so there is clearly skill there to find the right race for horses on the fringes of form. The question for Coincidental Glory is whether it can find another winning opportunity soon, or whether that sole victory remains its only moment in the sun.
