Coconut Man

He is trained by the partnership of Lucinda Russell and Michael Scudamore, based at Milnathort in Perth and Kinross. This is not a small operation finding its feet — the yard has sent out 47 winners already this season, which is a serious number and tells you this is a team that knows how to get a horse ready to run well. Coconut Man has had a break of around 75 days since he last raced, so the yard will have had time to plot his next move carefully.

With only two races to his name, there is not much of a story yet — but that is almost the point. A horse who wins half his races and places in the other half is starting out with a cleaner record than most. The next run will tell us a great deal about where he genuinely sits.
