That kind of course form is not a coincidence — some horses simply click with a particular track's layout, its bends, its surface — and Sandown appears to suit this one perfectly.

Ground conditions matter too. On fast, dry ground, Cock And Bull has won two from five races, a 40% win rate that again dwarfs its overall career numbers. That makes it a horse worth watching closely in dry spells, when the ground firms up and conditions swing in its favour.

The partnership with jockey Hector Crouch is worth noting. Together they have won two of seven races — just under one in three — which is a noticeably better return than the horse manages with other riders. That kind of chemistry between horse and jockey is not always easy to explain, but the numbers make a decent argument for keeping them together.

The horse itself has not added to its tally since winning at Nottingham on 29 April 2025, nearly eleven months ago, and its last six runs read 7-5-8-9-2-6 — patchy, with a promising second in there but nothing converted. It typically competes at Class 4 level, one of the mid-tier grades, and has won two from 15 races at that level — roughly one in eight. A return to Sandown on a dry day, ideally with Crouch aboard, would put all the best cards in its hand.
