Trained by John McConnell at Stamullen in Co Meath, Cloonainra runs in colours familiar to a yard that has been firing winners this season. The horse's first win came at Sligo in August 2024, and that early success hinted at potential, but the subsequent 12 months have told a different story. The last six races show a pattern of mid-field finishes and one disqualification or non-completion — a 9 most recently — which suggests Cloonainra is honest but struggling to recapture peak form. When ridden by Alex Harvey, the horse has managed one win from five outings, a rate better than the overall record but still modest.

What is notable is how the horse fares in top-class company. At Class 1 or 2 level — the top tier of the sport — Cloonainra has drawn a blank: zero wins from three attempts. This matters.
