The recent form figures tell a familiar story: finishes of 9th, 11th, 6th, 14th, and 9th in its last five completed races, with a pulled-up or unseated run mixed in. The sixth-place finish is the bright spot in that sequence, a reminder that Clandara can at least get into the picture on its day, even if converting that into something more meaningful has proved elusive. Raced just yesterday, this is a horse that is very much active and still being campaigned.
Trainer Liz Doyle operates out of Crossabeg in County Wexford and has sent out 4 winners already this season, which shows the yard knows how to get a horse to the line first. The question for Clandara is whether the right opportunity comes along to unlock what has so far been a frustrating career. Sometimes a horse finds its race late — but at eight, time is not exactly on its side.
