Archie Watson operates out of Upper Lambourn in West Berkshire and has sent out 62 winners already this season — that is a serious number that puts his yard among the more productive operations in the country right now. Watson has a reputation for placing his horses well and knowing when a young horse is ready to step forward. The fact that Chasse Patate has raced just three times tells you this is still a horse being educated, not one that has been thrown in at the deep end.

Having raced just yesterday, Chasse Patate is very much in active campaign mode. The team clearly feel the horse is in good enough shape to keep running, and with a form line that reads nothing but places, patience seems to be the watchword. The win has not come yet, but with a capable yard behind it and a knack for finishing races strongly, Chasse Patate looks like a horse whose first victory could arrive sooner rather than later.
