Trained by Stuart Coltherd at a small yard in Selkirk, deep in the Scottish Borders, the operation has sent out just one winner so far this season, so this is not a team drowning in firepower. That context matters: a yard running lean will often keep faith with a horse longer than a big stable might, and there may be patience here that a bigger operation would not afford.

What keeps things interesting is that Changemyluck raced just yesterday, meaning this is a horse very much in the middle of its campaign rather than one waiting for the right opportunity. Whether that second-place finish represents a genuine ceiling or a sign that the breakthrough is close is the question its the yard will be wrestling with.
