Certamen

The recent form tells a familiar story of inconsistency. Over the last six races, Certamen has finished ninth, seventh, unplaced, sixth, sixth, and fourteenth — a stretch that shows occasional glimpses of mid-field effort but nothing that builds towards a breakthrough. After racing just a day ago, the horse remains active, which means Edward Buckley's yard at Ratoath is continuing to look for an opening. Buckley's team has sent out five winners this season, so there is at least some success elsewhere in the yard, though Certamen has not been the source of it. At this stage, with no wins and no places across ten attempts, the horse appears to be one that racing simply has not suited, despite repeated opportunities to prove otherwise.
