Catofthecanals
Three races, no wins, and a best finish of seventh — on paper, Catofthecanals is still waiting for things to click. The four-year-old has managed one placed effort from those three outings, and a run of 10th, a pulled-up effort, and a 7th tells you this is a horse still finding its feet rather than one knocking on the door of a victory.Based on TrackLab's analysis

Our model's view, based on this horse's career and recent runs
What makes the picture slightly more interesting is the timing. Catofthecanals raced just yesterday, so this is a horse very much in the thick of its season, with the yard clearly keen to keep rolling and find the right opportunity. Sometimes horses need a run or two to sharpen up, and a yard that is firing on all cylinders tends to help that process along.
That yard is Anthony McCann's operation in Castleblaney, County Monaghan, and it has been in decent form this season — seven winners sent out is a solid return and suggests McCann knows how to place his horses to give them a realistic shot. The challenge now is finding the spot where Catofthecanals can translate promise, or at least improvement, into a first win.
