The horse's breakthrough came in January 2024 at Southwell, and he has since added three more victories. Most recently, he won a Class 2 race at Exeter on 9 February 2025—a significant achievement that shows he can still deliver at the higher end of the spectrum. It is worth noting, however, that when stepped up to Class 1 races, the top level of British racing, he has failed to win in three attempts, suggesting a ceiling to what he can achieve on the biggest stages.
Catch Him Derry has a clear preference for slightly soft, muddy ground, where he wins one race in every two he runs on. This is the kind of specific strength that matters enormously in jump racing, as it allows his team to plan his races around the right conditions. He raced just yesterday, so he remains very much an active part of the Skelton operation—a prolific yard that has already sent out 198 winners this season alone. At 8 years old and still competitive, Catch Him Derry looks set to continue grinding out victories for some time yet.
