What we do know is the breeding. Cat Blade is by Caturra, a fast, sharp sire whose offspring tend to show early speed, out of a mare by Iffraaj — another influence associated with pace and a good attitude. On paper, the family suggests a horse that could be competitive from a young age rather than one who needs time to fill out and mature.
The trainer, Robson De Aguiar, operates out of Mullingar in County Westmeath, and the yard has been in decent form this season with 11 winners already on the board. That's a meaningful number for a smaller operation — it tells you the horses are fit, well-prepared, and arriving at the track ready to run. When a yard like that sends out a first-time runner, it's worth paying attention, because they don't tend to waste a journey.
Beyond that, Cat Blade is simply an unknown. The debut is the whole story right now — and sometimes that's the most exciting kind.
