Trained by Jim Boyle at Epsom in Surrey, the horse is part of a yard that has hit real form this season, sending out 23 winners — a solid total that suggests things are clicking nicely at that stable. Epsom, of course, is famous as the home of the Derby, and training there gives a yard a natural familiarity with some of Britain's most distinctive tracks. Carnival Day's most recent win came at Epsom Downs itself on 31 July 2025, which is now eight months ago, and the horse has been off the track for around five months since then. That kind of break can go either way on return, so the first run back will tell plenty.

That is a genuinely strong return. The overall picture is of a horse that finds its best on its preferred terms — the right distance, the right track — and can be competitive when those boxes are ticked.
