Three wins from eight races at that trip works out at 38%, meaning Canvas wins more than 1 in every 3 races at that distance — a genuinely impressive ratio that suggests the horse has found a real comfort zone there. Stretch it shorter or longer, and something gets lost. Normal, standard ground also helps: two wins from eight races on a good surface, compared to a much leaner record when the ground goes wet or firm.

The most interesting number, though, is the Doncaster record. Two wins from just four races at that track is remarkable — it means Canvas has won half of all visits there. That kind of affinity for a specific course isn't coincidence; some horses simply suit the shape and surface of a particular track, and Doncaster seems to bring out something extra in this one. The first career win came there on 17 May 2025, and clearly it wasn't a one-off.

The last win came at York on 7 September 2025, so it has been around 10 months since Canvas visited the winner's enclosure, and recent form — finishing 14th, 4th, and 10th in the last three races — suggests the horse is searching for form again.

Racing mostly at Class 5 level, Canvas isn't competing for the big prizes, but the Doncaster record and that sharp distance profile give plenty of reason for interest. When the mile trip comes up on good ground at the right track, this is a horse worth having on your side.
