Can U Feel It

The recent form makes for tough reading. Looking at the last six races in reverse order, the figures read 7-3-5-10-7-9 — that third place is the lone glimmer in an otherwise mid-to-tail-of-the-field pattern. A tenth-place finish in there suggests at least one day where things went badly wrong, and the overall picture is of a horse that has not been finding much under pressure. At five years old, it is not a youngster still learning the ropes, which makes the lack of a win harder to explain away with inexperience.

Christian Williams trains the horse from his yard on the South Wales coast at Ogmore-By-Sea, and by any measure it is a stable in decent nick right now — 25 winners sent out this season is a solid return and shows there is no shortage of know-how in the camp. At the level Can U Feel It typically competes at, it has gone zero wins from three attempts, which means even in its comfort zone the results have not come. That said, it raced just one day ago, so the team clearly still believe there is something worth running for.

Whether that belief is rewarded remains to be seen. Some horses take time to find their feet, and others just need the right day, the right race, and a little luck to finally get their head in front. Can U Feel It has not given up any of those chances yet.
