The numbers are hard to dress up. Not once in eight attempts has Caitlin G finished in the top three, and the trajectory over the last six races is heading in the wrong direction — three consecutive ninths before a distant 22nd, then a slight uptick to seventh and fifth most recently. That fifth place is at least the closest this horse has come to troubling the judge, and with a race just yesterday, the team is clearly keeping busy rather than stepping back to regroup.
Mrs Gansera-Leveque's yard has sent out one winner this season, so this is a small operation rather than a powerhouse stable, and that context matters. Not every horse in training is destined for big prizes — some are learning the game, some are kept in work for the experience, and some simply take longer than others to show what they can do. At three years old, Caitlin G is still a young horse, and the season is not over yet.
