Burning Up

The horse kicked off with victory at Haydock Park on 7 August, then came back to win again at the same track on 3 September, three weeks ago now. That back-to-back success at Haydock, combined with a place sandwiched between those wins, shows a horse that knows what it is doing and has found a track where it thrives. Burning Up was last seen just a day ago — still active and clearly being kept sharp by trainer K. R. Burke, whose Coverham yard in North Yorkshire has been prolific this season, sending out 145 winners. That kind of volume and consistency suggests a well-run operation that knows how to get horses to the track in peak condition.

At two years old, Burning Up is still at an age where form can change quickly, but there is nothing in what we know so far to suggest anything other than a genuine prospect. Two wins from three races is the kind of record that turns heads, and the fact that it has already proved itself on the bigger stage at Haydock twice over is more than most can claim at this stage of their careers.
