Brinton

Almost all of Brinton's career has been spent in Class 6 races, which is the entry level of British racing. Three wins from 23 races at that level (13%, or just over 1 in 8) shows it is suited to that grade and has found its level. Both career wins of note came at different tracks — the first at Southwell in February 2025, then again at Brighton in May — which suggests Brinton isn't just a one-course wonder but can adapt to different conditions and layouts.

The pairing with jockey Rob Hornby has been the most regular of Brinton's career — nine races together — but they have only clicked once, which at 1 from 9 is the same 11% rate as the horse's overall record. No particular magic there, just a steady working relationship. Trainer Jonathan Portman runs a busy and productive yard out of Upper Lambourn, having sent out 46 winners already this season, so Brinton is part of a yard that clearly knows how to win races.

The honest truth is that Brinton hasn't won in its last six races, and the most recent finish — a fifth place just yesterday — continues that run. The recent form of 2-5-7-2-3-5 shows some flickers of promise, with a couple of placed efforts mixed in, but the wins have dried up since Brighton in late May. For a horse at this level, stringing together a run of form can be the difference between a winning streak and a frustrating one. Brinton has shown it can find the winner's enclosure, and with a trainer in form behind it, another win is far from out of the question — it just hasn't happened yet.
