Breizh River

What makes Breizh River interesting is the quality of those wins. Two of the six have come at Class 2 level — among the better races you'll see in Britain — including a New Year's Day victory at Musselburgh in January 2026 and a win at Kelso back in October 2024. The first career win only came in May 2024 at Hexham, which means everything has happened in a relatively short window. This is a horse that took its time to figure things out, and is now making up for lost ground.

The ground matters a lot here. On normal conditions Breizh River has won 5 of 14 races — that's 36%, or more than 1 in 3 — which is a genuinely strong number. It tells you this horse has a preference, and when conditions suit, it delivers. The best distance range appears to be between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, though the sample there is small.

Kelso deserves a mention. Two wins from just four races at that course makes it a genuine specialist there, the kind of track record that is worth watching for. Most horses drift in and out of form tracks without much pattern; Breizh River keeps returning to Kelso and keeps winning.

Tristan Davidson trains out of Irthington in Cumbria and has sent out 21 winners this season, making this a productive yard rather than a small outfit hoping to get lucky. Craig Nichol rides most often and has one win from seven attempts together, which is 14% — solid without being spectacular. The most recent victory came at Cartmel on 28 June, just three weeks ago. For an eight-year-old horse still winning at this level, still racing yesterday, and still improving — Breizh River is a story worth following.
