Breizh River's overall record reads 5 wins and 16 places from 26 races, which works out at roughly 1 in every 5 races ending in a win. That is a solid, honest record. But what makes the recent form genuinely interesting is the jump in class. Winning a Class 2 race — one of the top races in Britain — at Musselburgh on New Year's Day 2026, and having previously taken another Class 2 at Kelso in October 2024, suggests this is a horse that saves something extra for the bigger occasions. Plenty of horses win at the lower levels and find the step up too much; Breizh River has done the opposite.

On normal ground, the numbers get even more compelling. Four wins from 11 races on standard conditions works out at 36%, or just over 1 in every 3 races — comfortably the best version of this horse. The trainer Tristan Davidson, whose yard in Cumbria has sent out 21 winners already this season, has clearly worked out when and where to place this horse to maximum effect. That sort of targeting takes patience and know-how, and the results speak for themselves.

Jockey Craig Nichol has ridden Breizh River seven times and won once together, a 14% return that slightly flatters the overall record but still reflects a developing partnership worth watching. With Breizh River having raced just one day ago and sitting in form that includes two wins from its last six outings, this is a horse that appears to be enjoying a real purple patch at exactly the right stage of its career. At eight, horses can sometimes be written off as known quantities. Breizh River is busy proving otherwise.
