The most striking thing about Bowood right now is that two of those five career wins have come in the last six races. After a quiet spell — finishing seventh, then fifth, then sixth, then fifth — the horse has found something. That back-to-back winning run, capped by a victory at Newcastle on 7th November 2025, suggests a horse currently in form rather than fading. It raced just one day ago, which tells you this yard is keeping it busy while it's hot.

The partnership with jockey Elle-May Croot is worth paying attention to. In 19 races together, they've won 5 times — that's a win rate of 26%, or roughly 1 in every 4. Compare that to Bowood's overall career rate of 1 in 8, and it becomes clear that something clicks between horse and rider. Trainer Ivan Furtado, based in Wiseton in South Yorkshire, has had a productive season with 43 winners sent out — a yard clearly operating with confidence.

Bowood has a preference for distances between a mile and one furlong and a mile and two furlongs — what you'd call the middle-distance range — and has won 4 of its 20 races at those trips. That's a 20% win rate, or 1 in 5, which is genuinely strong. It also goes well on normal ground, winning 2 of 9 races in those conditions. Neither fact is flashy, but together they paint a picture of a horse that knows what it likes and performs when it gets it.

One interesting wrinkle: Bowood has run 18 times at the level it competes at most often and is yet to win at that grade. All five wins have come elsewhere on the card. That's not a flaw exactly — it could simply mean the horse is better suited to the races it dips into occasionally — but it's the kind of detail that a sharp punter would notice. For a general observer, what matters more is the current form: two wins on the bounce, an in-form yard, and a jockey who clearly brings out the best in it.
