That combination of facts, a horse that rarely wins and hasn't found its level even in the easier contests, makes for difficult reading.

Trainer David Rees has sent out three winners this season, so the yard is ticking over, but Boskill Borden hasn't been part of that story. Add in the fact that the horse hasn't raced for roughly five months, and there's a question mark over how sharp it will be returning from that kind of break. Horses can come back freshened and ready to go, or they can need a run to find their rhythm — and with such a thin winning record, there isn't much evidence to suggest which way this one tends to go.

The honest summary is that Boskill Borden is a horse that has shown enough to keep getting entries — that second and third in recent races suggest it isn't out of its depth — but one win in 22 races is a record that demands explanation rather than optimism. Tramore in the summer of 2023 remains the one day everything clicked. Whether that day comes around again is the question.
