The highlight of her career to date came at Catterick Bridge on 22 April 2026, where she picked up her first win. Catterick is a tight, turning track that suits horses who are nimble and switched-on, and getting off the mark there suggests Borjina has the sharpness to handle a tricky course. That win came roughly two months ago, and with a race just yesterday under her belt, she is clearly a horse who is being kept busy through the season.
Her recent form reads 2-7-1-4 — so a second, a seventh, that win, and a fourth. The seventh is the one blip in an otherwise consistent sequence, but the bounce-back to a win immediately after shows she wasn't put off by it. Horses who respond like that tend to be mentally tough, which counts for a lot over a long season.
Behind the scenes, she is trained by Edward Bethell at his yard in Middleham, one of the great racing towns in the north of England. Bethell has had 61 winners already this season, which is a serious number — that kind of output means the yard is well-organised, the horses are fit, and the team know what they are doing. Being trained somewhere that productive is a genuine advantage for a young horse still finding her feet.
At four races in, Borjina is still very much a work in progress, but the early signs are encouraging. A 25% win rate at this stage — one win from four tries — is a solid foundation, and with a capable trainer sending her out regularly, there is every reason to think the best is still to come.
