That is an exceptional number. Most jockey-and-horse partnerships at this level win closer to 1 in 6 or 7, so when Hammond and Bluegrass line up together, it is worth paying attention.

That tells you this is a horse operating at a solid, consistent level — not a superstar, but a genuine competitor who earns its place in decent races.

The honest part of the picture is that Bluegrass has not won in its last six races, with its most recent victory coming at Southwell back in October 2025 — around six months ago now. Recent form reads 4-4-3-8-3-7, which means plenty of near-misses alongside some disappointing days. The 8th-place finish stands out as one to set aside, but the cluster of third and fourth-place results suggests the winning thread is not entirely lost — just waiting to reappear. It last raced 19 days ago and is still active, so the yard are clearly looking for the right opportunity. Given its record, the smart money would be on that opportunity coming around a left-hand bend at Fakenham.
