Trained by Willie Mullins at his powerful yard in Muine Bheag — a team that has sent out 220 winners already this season — Blood Destiny has been ridden to all five of its career wins by Paul Townend. Townend clearly knows how to get the best out of a horse that, by trainer David Casey's own admission, "has disappointed a lot of times." The phrase sticks, because it is the kind of honest thing only said about a horse that has genuinely tested people's patience.

What Blood Destiny does brilliantly, though, is Naas. Two wins from three races at the track — a course specialist record that works out at winning 2 in every 3 visits — is the sort of number that makes a trainer's eyes light up when the entries come out. The most recent of those came just three months ago, in February 2026, on a wet day that suited him perfectly. On very wet, muddy ground, Blood Destiny has won 2 of its 3 races — a 67% win rate that is remarkable by any measure. As Casey put it plainly after Naas: "today thankfully was a going day." In other words, when the rain has been down and the ground is soft, this horse shows up.

The recent form underlines the point. From the last six races, Blood Destiny has run second, fifth, second, first, a blank, and third — active and competitive, with a win in there three months back. The horse raced just yesterday, which says everything about where it is physically right now: in work, fit, and still in the mix.

What makes Blood Destiny a genuinely interesting horse is the gap between its potential and its consistency. Casey has said openly that it is "hard to win with," but also that on its day it is "not a bad horse." Five wins, a Mullins yard behind it, and a near-unbeatable record around Naas in the wet — on the right day, in the right conditions, Blood Destiny is a very different proposition.
