Blinding Light

At six years old, Blinding Light is no youngster still finding its feet. That makes the lack of a win harder to explain away with inexperience — this is a horse that simply hasn't been able to get to the front when it matters. One place from four races means there has been the odd decent effort in there, but turning that into a victory has so far proved a step too far.

The trainer, Philip M Byrne, has had just one winner from his yard this season, so this is a small operation rather than a powerhouse stable. That context matters — horses from smaller yards often run less frequently and with fewer resources behind them, which can make improvement harder to sustain. Whether Blinding Light has the ability to turn things around remains to be seen, but with just four races on the clock, the story is at least still being written.
