Bibendum

The horse shows a genuine preference for fast, dry ground, winning 2 of 7 races (29%) when conditions are firm — more than three times better than the overall win rate. This is the kind of detail that matters in racing. It suggests that on softer, wetter ground, Bibendum struggles to find top gear, but get the track fast and dry and the horse becomes genuinely competitive. The last win, at Leicester on 25 June, came on precisely those conditions, but Bibendum hasn't found the winner's circle in the four months since. Recent form has been decidedly ordinary — a seventh place just last week, with most other runs finishing in mid-field. The horse clearly isn't firing at the moment.

Trainer Julie Camacho's Norton yard has been prolific this season with 46 winners, so Bibendum isn't getting lost in the shuffle through lack of attention. The regular partnership with jockey Ryan Sexton has yielded just one win from six races, though interestingly that's a 17% win rate — better than Bibendum's overall record — suggesting the pairing works reasonably well when conditions and competition align. What Bibendum needs right now is a return to that preference for firm ground and perhaps a step down in class. The horse wins roughly 1 in every 8 races at Class 6 level (2 wins from 16), which is where most recent opportunities have come. With just one win in the last six races and none since early summer, patience may be required, but when the right race comes along — dry ground, the right opposition — Bibendum has shown it can get the job done.
