Beorma

Across a career of 10 races, Beorma has won twice and placed three more times — a win rate of 20%, or roughly 1 in every 5 races. That is a solid record, though what makes it more interesting is where those wins have come from. Both victories have arrived on normal ground conditions, where his record reads 2 wins from 5 races — a 40% win rate. That is not a coincidence. That is a horse who has a very specific comfort zone, and when the track suits him, he is a genuinely difficult animal to beat.

The one area that hints at a ceiling is his record in Class 4 races — the level he most commonly competes at — where he has yet to win in four attempts. Both career victories have come elsewhere, which raises an interesting question about where exactly Beorma belongs in the pecking order. He clearly has ability, but finding the right race at the right level on the right ground matters enormously with a horse like this.

He is trained by Dan Skelton at Alcester in Warwickshire, and the yard is one of the most productive in the country right now — 194 winners already this season. When a stable of that size and quality keeps running a horse, it usually means they see something worth nurturing. With Beorma racing just yesterday and clearly in excellent form, it will be fascinating to see where Skelton points him next.
