Beauforts Storm

The most recent win came at Thurles in late November 2024, which is now 18 months ago and counting. Since then, Beauforts Storm has gone six races without adding to that tally, with a second place the highlight of a recent sequence that reads 2-7-7-5. That runner-up finish is encouraging — it shows the horse is still competitive — but the wins have dried up, and at this stage of a career the clock is always ticking.

Timothy Doyle trains the horse from his yard in Moyne, County Tipperary, and it is something of a family affair in the saddle too, with Mr D Doyle taking the ride in 18 of its 24 races. That partnership has produced both of Beauforts Storm's career wins, a 2-from-18 record that works out at roughly 11% — winning about 1 in every 9 rides together. That is a meaningful number when you consider most amateur or conditional jockeys would be delighted with that kind of return. The fact that the wins only come with Doyle in the saddle suggests there is a real understanding between horse and rider that the yard will want to preserve. The Doyle yard has sent out two winners this season, so they are not a powerhouse operation — every winner matters, and Beauforts Storm has been responsible for its share of the good days.

The career started at Cork in July 2023, and the horse has been a consistent presence on the track ever since, racing regularly enough to rack up 24 outings across its career. It raced just yesterday, which tells you everything about its durability — this is not a fragile horse that needs careful managing between runs. Whether another win is around the corner is hard to say, but Beauforts Storm keeps turning up, keeps filling the places, and with the right conditions and Doyle in the saddle, the yard will fancy their chances of adding a third win before too long.
