Beauforts Storm

The horse's last win came at Thurles on 28 November 2024, nearly two years ago now. Since then, he's been active but unable to break through, with his most recent six races yielding just two places and several mid-field efforts. He raced just yesterday, which tells you the yard is still trying to find him a winning opportunity somewhere. With regular rider Mr D Doyle in the saddle, the pair have managed 2 wins from 20 outings together — a 10% win rate, which is better than his career average but still modest. Most of Beauforts Storm's wins came early in his career: his first victory was at Cork on 14 July 2023, before that second success at Thurles.

What makes Beauforts Storm interesting is less about what he's achieved and more about his staying power. Many horses disappear from the track after a quiet spell, but here's a seven-year-old still being brought out race after race by a modest Tipperary yard, still competitive enough to earn places regularly. He's not a star in the making, and he's not quite a selling plater either — he's somewhere in the middle, a consistent if unspectacular campaigner who keeps giving his the yard reasons to saddle him up one more time.
