Both wins came in the space of ten days in June 2025 — first at Great Yarmouth on the 11th, then at Lingfield Park on the 21st. A quick back-to-back double like that suggests a horse that hit a purple patch and made the most of it. Since then, though, Banksman has gone six races without a win, and the recent form figures — 8, 10, 8 — paint a picture of a horse that has been struggling to recapture that form.

The distances where Banksman looks most dangerous are between a mile and a furlong and a mile and two furlongs. At those trips, the record reads 1 win from 5 races, or 20% — wins 1 in every 5, which is genuinely solid. It suggests there's a sweet spot in terms of stamina: not a pure sprinter, but nothing to suggest it wants to go much further either.

Jockey Edward Greatrex has been the most regular partner, and that combination has produced both wins from their 8 races together — a win rate of 25%, or roughly 1 in every 4 rides. That's a meaningful number. When Greatrex is booked, it's worth paying attention, because the pair clearly have an understanding that works.

Trainer Sheena West, based down in Lewes in West Sussex, has sent out 8 winners this season from a stable that operates mostly at the lower end of the graded scale. Banksman typically races at Class 6, the entry level of British racing, and has won 2 of 9 races at that level — 22%, or just over 1 in every 5. For a horse operating at that tier, those are respectable numbers. West's yard clearly knows how to place their horses in races they can win, and Banksman raced just one day ago, so this is very much a horse in active campaign. Whether another winning moment is coming soon remains to be seen, but the blueprint from June 2025 shows it's more than capable.
