The most eye-catching moment of the career so far came on 11 April 2025, when Back In Black won a Class 2 race at Newbury — one of the top contests in Britain. That is the kind of occasion that separates the decent horses from the genuinely useful ones, and Back In Black delivered. The first win had come the previous summer at Great Yarmouth in August 2024, so to follow that up with a win at a higher level suggests a horse that has improved with experience.

The record over 7 furlongs to a mile stands out. At that distance, Back In Black has won 2 from 8 races — a 25% win rate, or 1 in every 4 — which is considerably better than the overall career average. In racing terms, finding a horse's ideal trip is half the battle, and this one clearly has a preference. It is also worth noting that competing at Class 2 level — against some of the better horses in training — and winning 1 from 7 at that grade (14%) is no small thing.

The partnership with jockey Daniel Muscutt has been the most productive in the horse's career. Together they have won 2 from 10 races — 1 in every 5 — and both career wins have come with Muscutt in the saddle. That kind of continuity matters.
