Ruth Jefferson trains her from a yard in Norton, North Yorkshire, and the operation is in good nick right now, having sent out 8 winners already this season. Jefferson is a trainer worth knowing — based in one of English racing's heartlands, her yard punches with purpose. When a horse comes out of that environment and places on debut, it tends to suggest the team knows what they have, and that they have prepared it properly.
One race is too small a sample to draw firm conclusions, but a second-place finish from a single outing is genuinely promising. Author Dora hasn't won yet, but she hasn't put a foot wrong either. The next race will tell us a great deal more.
