The 12th-place effort at the head of the sequence is a bump in the road, though young horses have off days just as much as anyone else.

She is trained by Andrew Slattery out of Thurles in County Tipperary, and it is worth noting that Slattery's yard has been in sharp form this season, sending out 62 winners — a genuinely productive operation. Interestingly, Slattery also rides Aurora Mist himself, though the two have not yet combined for a win across their six races together. That is a striking detail: her only career win came without him in the saddle. Whether that changes going forward will be one of the more interesting subplots to follow.
