The recent form tells an honest story. Go back six races and you see a 15th-place finish, then a string of mid-pack efforts in fifth, before things started to click with a fourth, a seventh, and now that first win. It is the kind of trajectory that makes sense — a young horse gradually learning the job, getting competitive, and finally delivering. The worst of the form is behind her, and what matters now is whether she can build on it.
One detail worth noting is that Andrew Slattery rides Aurora Mist as well as trains her, and in their six races together before this win, the partnership had not found the front. That record changes now, though, and there is something to be said for a trainer who knows a horse well enough to take the reins himself. Racing just one day ago, Aurora Mist is as current as it gets — whatever she does next, it will come in the wake of her freshest and best result to date.
