Aughlish

The recent form tells an interesting story. A second and a third in the mix, sandwiched around a couple of runs that didn't produce a finish position at all, and a seventh most recently. That's the pattern of a horse finding its feet — capable of running well, but not yet putting everything together when it counts. Three places from six races is actually a reasonable return at this level; plenty of horses run six times and have nothing to show for it at all.

Aughlish is trained by Ms Claire O'Connell out of Ashbourne in Co Meath, a yard that has sent out four winners already this season. That's a small but active operation, and the fact that Aughlish raced just one day ago shows the team are keeping this horse busy and working through options. Sometimes a horse like this just needs the right conditions to click — and with a trainer willing to keep running it, that moment could come sooner rather than later.
