Audere

Trained by Dean Ivory at Radlett in Hertfordshire, Audere races in a modest yard that has found seven winners this season. The horse has tackled Class 6 races—the lower tier of competitive racing—on three occasions without success, which gives a sense of the level at which it operates. For a three-year-old still winless after nine races, the pattern is becoming familiar: Audere turns up, runs respectably in the lower ranks, and departs having run hard but not hard enough. The most encouraging sign is that recent form has produced a couple of 6th-place finishes and one 4th, suggesting the horse is not sliding backwards but holding its ground. Whether that translates into a breakthrough, or whether Audere remains one of those animals that runs often but never quite wins, only time will tell.
